Joel Hamilton

(Special Feature on DVD) Joel Hamilton serves the United States army as lieutenant colonel commander 1st battalion, 41st field artillery. He graduated from Creighton University (1989) in Omaha as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a degree in Political Science. He was commissioned a 2LT in the Field Artillery and following the Cannon Artillery Basic Course LTC Hamilton was assigned as a Battery Executive Officer in 1-19 FA, Fort Sill, OK.

While at Fort Sill LTC Hamilton was also assigned to 6-27 FA (MLRS), where he served as a Battalion Reconnaissance Survey Officer, firing Platoon Leader, and Battery Executive Officer. Upon completion of the Field Artillery Advanced Course LTC Hamilton was assigned to Fort Drum, NY where he served as a Task force Support Officer (2-14 IN), Battalion fire Direction Officer, and Firing Battery Commander in 2-15 FA, later, he assumed command of Headquarters, Headquarters Battery, 10th Mountain Division Artillery.


Following battery command, LTC Hamilton served in Hohenfels, Germany at the Combat Maneuver Training Center (CMTC) as an Observer/Controller for the Brigade Combat Team Battle Staff, Armored Task Force Fire Support Element, and Field Artillery Battalion S-3/Operations.


Upon graduation from the Command and General Staff College LTC Hamilton was assigned to Fort Carson, CO as the Regimental fire Support Officer in the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom I. Upon redeploymnet to Fort Carson, he was reassigne dto 3-29 FA (3d BCT/ 4 ID) where he served as the Battalion S-3 and Executive Officer, deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07.


His most recent assignment was at the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Strategic Forces Command at Peterson AFB, CO where he served as a Strategic Planner and Chief, Integrated Missile Defense Branch. LTC Hamilton assumed command of "Glory's Guns" on 25 June 2008.


LTC Hamilton holds a Masters of Science in Administration and Human Resources Management from Central Michigan University (2003).
